I trekked on the Mt.Fuji from the last Thursday's night (29th) to Friday (30th).
The access to Mt.Fuji that I used was an Expressway Bus from Shinjuku Bus Terminal. I rode on the Fuji-Kyuko Bus at 15:30 to the 5th station of Mt.Fuji from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal. The bus arrived at the 5th station about 17:55pm.
When I arrived, the top of the mountain was clear and had no cloud but gradually made a lenticular cloud and it was getting bigger in a short time. It is said that a lenticular cloud is generated when the wind is stronger above the air. It's generally believed that in most cases, the lenticular cloud is the foreboding of strong wind or it becomes the weather worse.
I thought that I'd like to have a rest at 5th station, so I searched around it but there were no free facilities. There were few hikers on the open space. Many shops on the 5th station were closed. So, at first, I was determined to take a rest on the 5th station until 8:00pm, but I changed my mind to go up the mountain. There were no available rest facilities on the 5th station, so we thought it must have some rest facilities on the next mountain stations.
A free public washroom was only on the 5th station beside the parking lot. You have to pay about 200yen at the other washrooms in Mt.Fuji area.
But it was an erroneous thinking, there were no free rest facilities on the mountain at least between the 8th and 5th stations. They provide not a rest facility, but a pay sleeping facility. The sunset time was the middle way to the 6th station. I light up a head light and walked up to the 6th station. The mountain path was getting steep from 6th station. We sometimes climbed onto a rock that was produced by lava flow.
There were few hikers around us. I was in good physical condition. So, I could climb the mountain at my own pace but high speed. The concentration of Oxigen was getting low.
That situation made my body out of shape gradually.
I saw beautiful night view from a mountain path.
We took a rest in front of the 6th and 7th station facility. We had a dinner at 7th station.
The Katsu Ball that was divided out from my friend and ate there was very delicious. I could see the light of 8th as if it is in front of me. But, the mountain trail between 7th and 8th path made me feel so long.
The 7th and 8th facility system was the same system as the 6th, too. A night stay price of the 7th lodge was 5,500yen per person, but 8th lodge was 6,000yen per person.
We took a short rest on the bench in front of 6th and 7th facilities. The lava flow rock was gradually increased as I walk up along the mountain trail. I felt some headaches from 7th station and it was gradually hard. I was affected to the low concentration Oxigen.
I felt dizzy that was getting strong just before the 8th station. The time was about 9:30 and the wind was so strong and we felt cool, so we decided to have a sleep on the 8th facility.
A bed was prepared that it was a sleeping bag onto the board, and the bed width was about 80cm. The lodge was not crowded.
I heard the sound of strong wind through the wall of the lodge through the night. We talked about the departure time to the summit of Mt.Fuji as 2:00am. About 1:40am, we waked up and checked the wind. The wind was strong enough still then, but other hikers who arrived before us were going to start who aimed at the summit. We decided to stay till 5:00am because of the strong wind. The check-out time of the lodge was 5:00am, so we all were forced out from the lodge.
I was in the dark night, but I could see the orange low-intensity light at the horizon. I walked the smooth mountain path to the place that many hikers were gathering. That was a peak point of the road that I could see the sunrise in good condition.
I took a video at the sunrise. Since the wind was so strong from right-side, I sat on the ground and spread my legs widely, and guarded the microphone by palm. Although, the video had shaken considerably.
A friend of mine said to me "How about going up to the summit?" But, the summit was covered with thick cloud and wind was still strong, so I proposed to go down the mountain and agreed each other.
We descended Mt.Fuji along the down mountain path. The path surface was very smooth, so it was very easy for me to arrive at the 5th stage. We took a coffee brake, after I checked the departure time of the Expressway Bus to Shinjuku Bus Terminal and opening time of the ticket office.
When I went back in front of the ticket office, two young hiker who I met them at the mountain path and stages last night stood in a queue. I asked them why they were here now. They answered that an ambulance crew at 8th station told them the risk of climb by strong wind at the summit, and held them back at the 8th station. They told me we felt frustration that could not climb to the summit.
