07/19/2010

Trek : Okutama St. -> Mt.Kurado -> Kayanoki Ridgeway -> Mt.Takanosu -> Mt.Joyama -> Mt.Mutsuishi -> Mt.Sanokido -> Okutama St.

I went to Takanosu Mountain in Okutama area at July 18. It was a very hot fine day. Dsc_4729s
Every train and bus were very crowded by hikers. The exit stairs to the ticket gate is located on the center of a platform at JR Okutama Station. I was riding on the tail vehicle of the train of arrival time 8:28am, the vehicle was stopped at the front edge of the platform. That means that the top of the vehicle was stopped about the middle of a platform. The bus starts at 8:36am from the bus stop across the street, at the front of Nishi-Tokyo-Bus terminal. I needed a time to pass through the ticket gate of JR station. Also, I needed a time to the washing room. So, I thought it is convenient for you to ride in the first vehicle.
Two buses that destination is Okutama-Lake-area "奥09" were ready to departure at the bus stop. The buses were too crowded by hikers, I was wondering if I could ride on. It costs 380 yen per person from Okutama Station to Kurado-guchi(倉戸口). I arrived there about at 8:58am.
Dsc_4716s The height of the destination mountain is about 1700m, and has a beautiful view from the summit of the mountain. At the summit of the mountain opened widely at south direction, I was enchanted by the beauty of the scenery. About 30 hikers were getting a break for lunch. While I was taking a lunch Onigiri, many hikers were coming up continuously.

Some hikers were boiling a water and eating a pot noodle. Kurado-guchi is one of the starting point for a climb to Takanosu Mountain(鷹ノ巣山). At the mountain path to Mt.Takanosu from Kurado-guchi, you have to walk up Kurado Mountain, Kayanoki Mountain and beautiful ridge walk of Kayanoki(榧ノ木尾根).
The height of the mountain is 1,736.6m. The stage length to Takanosu Mountain from Kurado-guchi is about 6,700m according to the information of Joyfulmap number 61 "Takao-Jimba-Okutama". It's a very long path, I needed about 3.5 hours. You can select the other path from Nippara(日原). The distance is 3,823m, and it is a simple way to the destination mountain climbing on the map, so it must be easier than my selection.
I had got a cramp in my leg near the summit of Mt.Takanosu. I drank much water but it was not enough. I was sweating like a horse, the necessity minerals were carried away from my body, I should have taken some nutritional supplements to avoid a cramp.
After the lunch break, I changed to my dried shirt, and I walked toward Okutama Station.
The destination mountain path has Mt.Jyoyama(城山) and Mt.Mutsuishi(六ツ石山) and Mt.Sanokido(三ノ木戸山).
The stage length to Okutama Station from Mt.Takanosu is over 9,000m. I was very exhausted oneself because of few wind and high temperature. I was sweating like a horse, while I was continuing to my walking. After I wiped my sweat by hand towel, I had to squeeze it because getting wet.
In this mountain path, you can not get any water. There is no natural water point.
I prepared a drink water 1.5 liter for this walking, but it was in short supply.
I arrived at Okutama Station about 4:20pm. I changed to my dried shirt again. I got back homewards by the train 4:30pm.
